CAPSTONE: ESCAPE-TYCH

escape-tych is a triptych cuckoo clock merging mediums of art and technology to represent of themes of escapism and procrastination. This digital fabrication sculpture utilizes skills learned throughout my four years at UTD: ideation/research, 3D modeling, FDM printing, laser cutting, rendering, and other fabrication processes. Inspired by kinetic sculptures and triptych art pieces involving narrative themes of three, escape-tych creates an imaginative experience where users are able to immerse themselves in an imaginative world showing how we run from time and attempt to escape reality.

ABOUT

I'm Yvonne (she/they), a Chinese-American artist with a BA in Art, Humanities, and Technology with a focus in product design. I specialize in digital fabrication, illustration, as well as mixed media sculpture. My goal is to create art that is able to tell fun stories and inspire others to create!I tend to draw inspiration from childhood knick-knacks, Chinese culture, and 2000’s designs to establish a nostalgic and child-like atmosphere. I enjoy using various mediums and textures to generate a patchy, arts-n-crafts feel similar to the media I grew up with.
